MBT Signs Olympic Spokesperson
Cyclist Chris Carmichael Will Represent MBT
VENICE, Calif. (Apr. 15, 2009)—MBT is getting professional athletes on its side. The company, which produces the world’s first physiological footwear designed to exercise the body’s supporting muscle system, has signed former Olympic cyclist Chris Carmichael as its national spokesperson. In addition to serving as Lance Armstrong’s personal coach, Carmichael is also the founder and CEO of Carmichael Training Systems, Inc., and MBT will be the official active comfort footwear of his company.
“MBTs are a great tool for athletes; they improve post-workout recovery, reinforce proper posture, and help athletes engage stabilizer muscles that are often neglected in traditional, sport-specific training,” Carmichael says.
The collaboration between CTS, which focuses on delivering world-class sports science services, and MBT is fitting, as both companies leverage proven and cutting-edge science to enhance both athletic and lifestyle performance. One of CTS’s mantras – “less pain, more gain” – speaks directly to the function of MBTs, which were developed to not only reduce back and joint pain, but to strengthen, tone and firm muscles throughout the entire body and improve posture and gait.
“As a coach, I’m always looking for tools and techniques that give my athletes an advantage,” Carmichael adds. “MBTs not only help my athletes, they’ve helped me as well. I’ve had back pain for years following a broken femur that left me with one leg shorter than the other. Since I’ve started wearing MBTs, I can handle long days on my feet during camps or at events without any back pain.”
Carmichael will represent MBT at public events and speaking engagements, and CTS coaches nationwide have incorporated MBT into their training regimes for recovery and/or conditioning. Now MBT will reach elite level athletes, as well as amateur competitors and more recreational athletes who attend CTS camps and use the CTS coaches for their personal coaching needs.
“We couldn’t be happier with Chris’ glowing support of MBT,” says Rebecca Kotch, vice president of marketing & retail development. “He’s an inspiration to anyone who knows his story, and his belief in our product validates what we already know – MBT plays a key role in fitness training pre and post-competition. We are very proud of this partnership.”
